OpenAI in ninedot.
API spend per project, on the business that uses it. Projects and what each spent on the API over the last 30 days, from the organisation Costs API.

What you get
- measuredSpend per project, last 30 days, with the last 7 days and the biggest model
Exact is read straight from OpenAI. Measured is derived from usage or a rolling 30-day window. Only those two are ever counted. Where OpenAI can't report a bill, ninedot suggests the plan's list price and you confirm what you pay. That figure counts in your own totals, marked Confirmed by you, and is never shown as verified.
Connecting takes a few minutes
- Create a Admin key (read-only)Created by an organisation owner with Permissions set to Read only. Create it at platform.openai.com.
- Paste it in the VaultIn ninedot, open Vault → OpenAI → Connect. The key is checked, encrypted at rest and only ever read by ninedot's servers.
- Put it on a productninedot suggests which product each service belongs to, by domain or name. Accept it in one click, or link it by hand.
Limits, honestly
- Needs an organisation admin key with Read only permissions; project keys can't read costs.
- Spend is a rolling 30-day window, not a calendar-month invoice.
Questions
- How do I see OpenAI costs per business?
- Connect a read-only OpenAI admin key. Each OpenAI project becomes a service with its last-30-day spend, which you put on the business that uses it. Spend shows as an AI spend tile on the product and across your portfolio.
- Can an AI agent read this too?
- Yes. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code connect through ninedot's MCP server and get the same figures with the same trust levels. Agents can never change your OpenAI account.
